Formed on New Year’s Day, 1974, The Gaugers comprised Peter Hall, Tom Spiers and Arthur Watson. The Gaugers dispensed a heady distillate of 100 per cent proof North-East spirit. So fundamental was their commitment to the rich yet underexploited wealth of song from Buchan and wider Aberdeenshire, that Arthur Watson, once declared in an interview that ‘anything from south of Stonehaven would be considered World Music’.
