Yesterday in Hull, the family of renowned folk singer Lal Waterson returned to the city for the unveiling of a plaque in her honour at her former home. Lal’s two children, Marry and Oliver, sister Norma, niece Eliza Carthy and Martin Carthy were in attendance as the plaque was unveiled.

Marry Waterson said: “This is a lovely honour for our mum. We all have such great memories of living in Hull, nestled in the grace of the tree-lined Avenues.”
